The MRI scanner
We work with a Signa Infinity Echospeed Plus 1.5T with attached AWS 4.2 Workstation for image postprocessing. The machine was newly installed in May 2004. It is equipped with General Electric’s innovative ExciteTM technology for parallel signal processing via 16 channels. This results in a speed advantage in electronic image processing, which manifests itself in improved image quality and reduced examination times.
The machine is in a bright room with large windows. It is in the form of an elongated tube which is open at both ends. The smallest diametre of this opening is 60 cm over a length of just 70 cm.
If necessary, the mobile examination cradle can be uncoupled from the machine, so that patients arriving on stretchers can be transferred to it outside the scan room.
